😤THE EGGS AND THE POTATOES

                      THE EGGS AND THE POTATOES.

Amit was an ambitious young man. He wanted to be rich and so he set out in search of a good fortune. He was lucky indeed and he earned a big fortune before long. So, when he returned to his town he was rich man.

Now, a baker had a shop near Amir's house. He came to know of Amir's fortune and made up his mind to reap advantage of it. So, he sent a dozen of boiled eggs to Amir's house.

A few days later, the baker sent a bill for the eggs that he had sent to Amir's house. It amounted to one thousand ducats. Amir was surprised to see the bill and refused to pay such a high price for 12 boiled eggs. So, there was a dispute between the two.

The baker was not going to give up. He served a notice to Amir and took the matter to the court of the Caliph. Summons were issued against Amir and a day was fixed for the hearing of the case.

On the day fixed for the hearing, Amir reached the court very late. The trial had begun and the baker was stating his case. He said, "Sir, I sent a bill for one thousand ducats because from those one dozen eggs, a dozen chickens would have hatched out to become hens and then multiplied to a large number of hens in this way. By now my lord, I must have become master of a big hen-house.

The judge now turned to Amir and asked him to explain why he had reached the court so late before stating his case before the court.

Amir said, "I boiled some potatoes and sowed them in my field so that I might have a rich harvest from them.

The judge at once retorted, "Since when have boiled potatoes started giving good harvest ?"

"Since boiled eggs have started hatching out chickens, My lord," pat came the reply from Amir.

So, the judge came to realise the trick of the baker and dismissed his case. Not only this, he sent the baker to prison for filing a false suit.
